Kim's 100 Days until New Moon Countdown

77. What's in a name.

When researching Twilight facts I found this list behind the character names. I wonder if Stephenie did her research or if it just happened. Here is what Twilighter.org had to say.

Justine, a Twilighter, dugg up some interesting info on the meanings behind the names of the Twilight characters, check it out.

Actual meanings from behindthename.com**

**Edward: Means “rich guard”. (so true!)

**Isabella a.k.a. Bella: Meaning “my God is abundance”. Isabella of France married Edward II. (WOAH!)

**Jacob: Meaning “holder of the heel” or “supplanter”. (Take what you can from that…)

**Jasper: Means “treasurer” in Persian.

**Rosalie: Means “Rose” (Obviously… How about, “beautiful rose?”)

**Alice: Composed of the elements adal “noble” and heid “kind, sort, type”. (interesting)

**Emmett: Meaning “whole” or “universal”. (Hmmm…)

**Carlise: Meaning, “Strong as Lugh”, Lugh was a Celtic god of the sun and craftsmanship. Also known as “the shing one.” (So, he’s as strong as “The shining one”? Interesting relation to vampires!)

**Esme: Means “esteemed” or “loved” in Old French. (awww)

**Charlie: Meaning, “Man, army, or warrior.” (hmmm….)
