97. In the original Twilight story, Stephenie Meyer, SM, says that Jacob was just a vehicle to telling Bella that Edward was a vampire. He was only on that one scene at the La Push Beach. He was determined to be a major character. SM's sister and others love his character. As SM was writing New Moon and editing Twilight at the same time, Jacob's character was screaming to do more, be more. He would be a minor character no more.
