85. Oh the heartache!
We all know that Edward leaving Bella is the worst thing that happens to Bella in New Moon. But please realize that there are plenty mini-break up scenes. Bella breaks-up with Jacob several times over the course of three books. Here is an excerpt from New Moon, Chapter 9 where Bella realizes she is damaged goods and wants to distance herself fro Jacob.
Jacob- "Tell me something, you like me right? better than any of the other guys you know?"
Bella- "Better than the girls, too."
Jacob- "But that's all?"
Bella- "Yes."
Jacob- "That's okay you know, as long as you like me the best."
Bella- "I'm not going to change."
Jacob- "It's still the other one isn't it?. You don't have to talk about it. But don't get mad at me for hanging around, okay? Because I'm not giving up, I've got loads of time."
Bella- "You shouldn't waste your time on me."
Even though I wanted him too....especially if he was willing to accept me
the way I was--damaged goods, as is.
Jacob- "It's what I want to do, as long as you still like to be with me."
Bella- "I can't imagine how I could not like being with you."
Jacob- "I can live with that."
Bella- "Just don't expect more."
